Adrien Broner Returns to the Boxing Ring February 20th

Published

After two years out of the ring, Adrien Broner will make his triumphant return to boxing when he faces Jovanie Santiago on February 20th. This will be on the undercard for Showtime that also sees Otto Wallin facing off against Dominic Brezeale.

Adrien Broner has not fought since January 19, 2019, when he lost via unanimous decision to Manny Pacquiao. Back in August 2019, Broner announced he would be retiring from the sport of boxing in a lengthy Instagram post that said:

“I’m retiring boxing is a lonely sport I’m done with this s*** give me a brick and let me turn it into 8 with some phyt.”

Broner gained a reputation throughout his career for his eccentric personality with his trash-talking, showboating, and outright cockiness. For the most part, he was able to back it up winning world championships in multiple weight classes and each of his four losses coming against former world champions.

Broner will be looking for his first win in the ring in over four years as he is 0-2-1 in his last three fights. His last win came against Adrian Granados on February 18, 2017, when he won by split decision.

Jovanie Santiago’s pro record currently stands at 14-0-1 with 10 wins coming by knockout. He has been fighting professionally since 2007 with his last bout coming this past December winning via the first-round knockout against previously undefeated Juan Zegarra. This will be his first career bout against a former world champion.
