For April, we have selected Steloni as our Model of the Month.

Q: What is your name and where can people find you on social media?

Steloni: Steloni Mason, my twitter and IG name is @Stelonii

Q: What part of the DMV did you grow up in?

Steloni: I was originally born in Washington DC and then I moved to Maryland. I grew up around the Oxon Hill and Fort Washington side of Maryland.
Q: How long have you been modeling and what inspired you to begin modeling?
Steloni: I have been modeling since I was 5 years old. I used sit on my grandmothers living room floor and watch America’s Next Top Model all day. At that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to be in life. Modeling is an art, it’s a way of expressing myself without having to talk.
Q: What are some photoshoots or gigs that you are particularly proud of?

Steloni: I walked in NYFW for the first time at 15 years old. But before any major modeling gigs, I was going hard with my acting career. I had short roles on House of Cards and Girls. After that, I started booking lead roles in short films, I’m most proud of my recent performance in East of the River. It ranked as Top 10 best films at the Tribeca Film Festival and won awards at many other film festivals all over the country.

Q: What are some obstacles you ran into modeling, and how did you overcome those obstacles?

Steloni: I had to learn how to become resilient at a very young age. Modeling is a world for people with thick skin because everyone isn’t nice all the time, It’s a very blunt industry. Either your in or your out. My obstacle was to refrain from doubting if I didn’t get picked for a show. It taught me how to love myself even more without the opinions of others. I know there is place for me in this industry or I wouldn’t have made it this far.

Q: What advice or words of encouragement would you give to

aspiring models?

Steloni: I would say to keep going! Don’t stop at your first No, you might face a lot of no’s before you get a yes. And just because you a get a No, it doesn’t mean you aren’t good, you just weren’t right for that particular gig. Don’t make excuses and don’t stop! I hate to live with regrets and I know I’ll regret it forever if I give up on my dreams.

Q: What are your future career goals for modeling?

Steloni: I want to get signed by a modeling agency either in the U.S. or overseas. I see myself as a beauty model in the industry, while also making a few appearances on the runway during fashion week.

Q: What are your other hobbies, or business ventures?

Steloni: I have something very special coming up but I can’t say! You just have to stay tuned. But I love music, when I’m not working I’m finding new music to listen too. I will eventually use my brand to start my own business! After that I want to form a non- profit organization in Maryland that will provide college scholarships to students who may have one or both parents incarcerated.
