20-year-old Rapper Was Shot After Cops Approached His Vehicle
This past weekend aspiring rapper Willie McCoy also known as Willie Bo was shot dead by police in a Taco Bell drive-thru. The 20-year-old was inside his Mercedes Benz allegedly asleep with a handgun laying in his lap.
A Taco Bell employee called the police this past Saturday and reported to check on a driver who was slumped in his car. The call happened at 10:36 p.m. Police arrived at the scene and attempted to open the door but it was locked.
It was said to police called for backup once McCoy was still unresponsive after the attempts. According to the Vallejo Police Department, he made a sudden movement towards his gun causing the police to fear and shoot. Six officers opened fire and unloaded multiple rounds within four seconds.
Police said they alleged him to keep his hands visible before shooting. The number of times the rapper was shot has not been told yet. He died on the scene. It was also reported he was awake when shot.
David Harrison who is McCoy’s cousin and Marc McCoy his brother both spoke to The Guardian and had this to say:
“There was no attempt to try to work out a peaceful solution. Willie’s older brother, told the Guardian. “The police’s job is to arrest people who are breaking the law – not take the law into your own hands. You’re not judge, jury and executioner … We’re never going to get over this.” – Marc McCoy
“No one trusts the police in Vallejo,” said David Harrison, McCoy’s cousin. “We are being targeted … Police have a campaign of executing young black men who fit a certain profile. Willie dressed the part. He represents hip-hop music. They are profiled.” – David Harrison
