The Bowie State Lady Bulldogs basketball team’s season is not over yet!

Although the ladies of Bowie State were unable to win the CIAA Championship losing to Fayetteville State in the final, they were able to secure a spot in the Division II playoffs as the number four seed in the Atlantic region.

Their first round opponent will be fellow CIAA member and fifth seed Virginia Union Panthers. This will be a rematch of the semifinal round of the CIAA Tournament in which Bowie State won 53-41 to advance to the tournament final. The Bulldogs led wire to wire with their largest lead reaching 14 points.

In the regular season, both teams split the season series winning on their home floors by scores of 49-44 and 59-44 respectively. Bowie State has won four of their last six games against Virginia Union.

These two teams played against each other in the 2018 Division II playoffs when Virginia Union was the number one seed in the Atlantic region and Bowie State was the eighth seed. Bowie State pulled off the upset winning 63-56. The Bulldogs would advance to Atlantic regional semifinal where they were eliminated by Indiana (PA.)

Both teams will begin their quest for a Division II championship this Friday March 13th at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex at Indiana (Pa.).
