The Los Angeles Chargers got the better of the Baltimore Ravens in the Wildcard Divisional Round. It was a defensive game early on as both teams struggled to get it going.

The Chargers dominated most of the game and led 23-3 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Ravens fans were displeased and even booed throughout the game. Some fans wanted to see former Superbowl MVP Joe Flacco in action.

Recap

Rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson gave a tremendous effort in the 4th quarter throwing two touchdown passes. Jackson couldn’t complete the comeback as he fumbled the ball in a critical possession. He lost the ball a total of 4 times with 3 fumbles and 1 interception.

Jackson finished 14 of 29 for 194 passing yards. Jackson also got sacked a total of seven times. The Chargers will move on to the next round to face the New England Patriots.

Chargers kicker Michael Badgley set a franchise record for Field Goals made in a playoff game with 5. With the Chargers troubles of finding the end zone, he led them to a victory.

Philip Rivers completed 22 for 32 passes for 160 yards.

Even with the tough loss, Ravens fans can have hope for the future. Jackson helped the team get to the playoffs and is the youngest quarterback to start an NFL playoff game at 21 years-old. The Ravens also compiled a 6-1 record with Jackson at quarterback.

Jackson could’ve easily given up hope. In the first half, he was 2-8 for 17 yards with 1 one interception. His passer rating was 0.0 and his team was down 12-0. This was the first time in Ravens playoff history they went scoreless before halftime.

Even with boos chanted from his home crowd, he went on to finish strong and knows he has a lot to work on for next season.

Chargers Woes

Chargers fans, on the other hand, have a lot to fear against the Patriots. Since 2006 when Rivers first became the starter, the Chargers have never defeated the Patriots. Rivers is 0-7 against Tom Brady in his career and will have a tough challenge in getting his first win against them.
