Published

on

As heat rises, Montgomery County Transit is now offering free water to RideOn Bus passengers as a part of the County Cooling Center Plan.

Tuesday, July 21, now holds an emergency alert heat index that is expected to reach 105 Degrees or higher. With the rising heat, the buses will support the county cooling centers.

Starting yesterday, free bottles of water were available for passengers. This additional service will continue until weather conditions improve.

Across the County, various locations will be open as cooling centers for those looking for options.

The Montgomery County Cooling Center Plan started Sunday, July 19, and will continue possibly through Wednesday, July 21. More information provided by the County is down below.

The County will provide cooling centers at the following locations:

Sunday and Wednesday; from noon to 6 p.m.:

Monday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

Tuesday; from noon to 6 p.m.:

Masks are required at all times in the cooling centers and will be available, if needed. Do not visit a cooling center if you have a cough, fever, or any other symptoms of illness.

At any time during the heat emergency, anyone seeking shelter may use any Ride On Bus to cool down during service hours. The buses are available for free. More information is available on the bus schedule on the DOT website.

Report heat-related safety concerns for people or pets: 301-279-8000.
