Catherine Pugh Gets Her Request Granted to Delay Her Prison Report Date

Former Baltimore mayor Catherine Pugh managed to get a two-month delay due to her being “adversely affected” by the COVID-19 pandemic. U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow approved the request. Pugh is expected to report to prison in Alabama no later than June 26.

According to court records, Pugh will serve her time at a women’s medium-security prison in Aliceville, Alabama. Last November 70-year-old Catherine Pugh pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and two counts of tax evasion charges. This past February she was sentenced to three years in jail.

Her perjury court date has been moved to May 14. The court motion also stated:

“To require the defendant to surrender to BOP custody in Alabama to only to then have to ben returned to Maryland for the final adjudication of her state law charges, serves no legitimate purpose.”

Pugh attorneys will continue to get her to do her stint closer to Maryland. Chasanow recommended that she serves her time in West Virginia, but the Bureau of Prisons assigned her to the Alabama prison.
