George Mason Men’s Basketball Holds Off George Washington, 69–64

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA – George Mason men’s basketball defended home court Monday night, earning a hard-fought 69–64 victory over rival George Washington in an Atlantic 10 showdown at EagleBank Arena.
The Patriots set the tone early, using strong ball movement and disciplined defense to build a lead heading into halftime. George Washington responded with energy in the second half, cutting into the margin and turning the game into a tight contest in the final minutes.
Mason was led by a strong interior performance, controlling the boards and creating second-chance opportunities that proved critical as the game wore on. Several timely baskets and composed free-throw shooting helped the Patriots maintain their edge as the Revolutionaries pushed for a late comeback.
George Washington showcased balanced scoring and physical play, keeping pressure on Mason until the final horn. The Revolutionaries made multiple runs and forced key defensive stops, but could not fully close the gap in the closing stretch. A late three-pointer and consecutive defensive stands sealed the win for Mason, giving the Patriots another statement victory in conference play. The win keeps George Mason unbeaten in Atlantic 10 action and reinforces its position as one of the league’s most consistent teams this season.
