WASHINGTON DC – Georgetown men’s basketball delivered one of its most competitive performances of the season Saturday night but fell just short in a 64–62 loss to No. 3 UConn at Capital One Arena. The Hoyas matched the Huskies’ physicality and intensity for all 40 minutes, refusing to let the nationally ranked visitors pull away. Georgetown’s defense kept UConn uncomfortable throughout, forcing contested shots and turning the game into a half-court battle down the stretch.

Vincent Iwuchukwu anchored the Hoyas inside, recording a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds while controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. Georgetown also received timely scoring from its perimeter group KJ Lewis, Jeremiah Williams and Malik Mack, keeping the margin within one possession for most of the second half.

In the final moments, Georgetown had a chance to tie or take the lead, but a last-second shot attempt rolled off the rim, sealing the narrow defeat. Despite the result, the effort marked a clear step forward for a young Hoya squad searching for momentum in conference play.

The loss drops Georgetown to 9–9 overall and 1–6 in Big East action, but the performance showed the team’s ability to compete with elite opponents. With several games remaining in the season, the Hoyas will look to build on this effort as they continue to develop and grow together.
