The DMV Daily – What first got you into music?

Matt – Ever since I can remember I loved creating, I used to make videos and little films as a kid and I always wanted to find different ways to create, my love for rap music started at 8 years old when i first heard “The Furious Five” by Grandmaster Flash & The Sugar Hill Gang believe it or not and “The Slim Shady LP” by Eminem and as I grew older by 14 I found myself writing music of my own as an outlet.

The DMV Daily –  Who inspired you to make music?

Matt – Eminem, his ability to make stories in his songs just connected with me as kid to a point I can’t explain.

The DMV Daily – How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Matt – It ranges from high energy lyricism to songs that are melodic and introspective, throughout all my music you get a sense of me as a person and as an artist.

The DMV Daily – What is your creative process like?

Matt – I always am creating, whether it be music or not but I don’t like to force creativity, once I draw inspiration naturally and find that spark I take it and immediately build off of it.

The DMV Daily – Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Matt – Anderson Paak., he just never fails.. every song of his is incredible.

The DMV Daily – If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Matt – Kendrick Lamar, not only cause Kendrick is my favorite artist/rapper but also because SZA might be there and I’m trynna smash.

The DMV Daily – What is one message you would give to your fans?

Matt – Thank you, just thank you for being there in the beginning stages of this shit, I love each and every one of y’all, y’all make me continue to push myself creatively and personally 

The DMV Daily – What is the most useless talent you have?

Matt – Looking like G-Eazy no matter what I do.

The DMV Daily – Do you sing in the shower? If so, what songs?

Matt – I stay butchering The Weekend’s songs in the shower.

The DMV Daily – What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Matt – Comedy or Acting, in fact I’m getting into Acting more on the side, my song “The Come Up”  is the main theme of the film my acting debut is in.

The DMV Daily – Where have you performed?

Matt – Multiple places in Arizona, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware, and in the shower.

The DMV Daily – How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Matt – It’s made it more accessible for artists of all calibers to become their own boss and be openly creative without the need of major labels sucking great artists dry.

The DMV Daily – Which famous musicians do you admire?

Matt – Tupac, Kanye West, J Cole, Freddie Gibbs, Vince Staples, Wax, Joyner Lucas, Travis Scott, Danny Brown, Killer Mike, Jay Rock, Frank Ocean, Tyler The Creator, Drake, Big K.R.I.T., Aminé, The Weeknd and Royce Da 5’9” to name a few.

The DMV Daily – What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Matt – I don’t know if this counts but I was caught listening to a Russ record because I was shuffling through Spotify and my sister didn’t speak to me for a week.

The DMV Daily – What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Matt – Not really advice that was directly given to me but I live by a Dave Chappelle quote “Sometimes you got to act like a lion to live like the lamb you truly are.”

The DMV Daily – If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Matt – The way labels feed off naive artists.

The DMV Daily – What’s next for you?

Matt – My first album is amazing and is most likely releasing this June depending on the corona pandemic and I can’t wait for people to hear it.
