During this time, everyone may be looking for that one opportunity that may change their lives forever. Sometimes this includes changing the people you hang around and surround yourself around people who are in the Winner’s Circle. Winner’s Circle a podcast and outreach organization that explores the mindset of entrepreneurs, sharing advice, tips, and the secret to success.  We had the pleasure of speaking with their team (Nicole, Stephen, Karl, Kelvin, &  Lansana), where we learned more about them and the Winner’s Circle.

Q: What’s one thing you wish you had known when began your career? 

Nicole Lomax: When I began my career it was right after graduation and in the midst of the COVID19 shutdown. Having all that time off, I didn’t really know what to do to advance myself and make myself a viable candidate in a work world that was becoming more and more virtual. Had I known then what I know now, I would have spent a lot more time learning how to use recording software and creating graphics so that when the world was open again I could be a valuable asset both online and in person. As of now, I’m just learning as I go but I don’t have any complaints about the process.

Q: What is one of your biggest failures, and what did you learn from that experience?

Nicole Lomax: One of my biggest failures would be not having been involved in more on and off-campus activities in my college years. After I graduated I realized how many resources and opportunities for learning outside of the classroom are afforded to you as a college student. With the right support and knowledge of those resources, you can become extremely well-rounded and build more networks for yourself post-graduation. While I was involved in some activities, if I could go back I would throw a couple more on my agenda that would help me thrive in society’s most competitive industries.

Q: What advice would you give someone wanting to pursue a career similar to yours?

Stephen Young: I would say to understand and study marketing, business, entertainment, and branding because you will need to know how to stand out from the crowd.

Random Question: Rihanna or Beyonce? Why?

Stephen Young: Beyonce because Houston is where my heart is.

Q: What are the best resources that have helped you along the way?

Karl Ominiabohs: The best resources that have helped me are friends because they help mold me and push me forward. Second, books because they open my mind to new ideas and perspectives to get me out of my own journey.

Q: Who are the three people who have been most influential to you?

Karl Ominiabohs: The three most influential people in my life have been my parents, my brother, and James.

Q: What is a common myth about your profession or field that you want to debunk?

Kelvin Ominiabohs: That you need a lot to start or you have to be alone doing it. When it comes to being an entrepreneur, it can be a scary thing thinking that you need everything figured out. It can also be a fearful feeling of being alone and not having people, resources, and influence to get what you need for your business. We are trying to destroy that narrative. Every entrepreneur has everything they need and can get the help they need from someone closer than they think. With our podcast, we highlight the great business and community leaders in our backyard. We have a lot of great things going on in our own neighborhood but sometimes it’s hard to recognize that. Our podcast wants to make it easier for everyone to find that out. Building a community builds, love, and makes dreams come true.

Q: What’s next for you?

Lansana Sesay: I’m going where faith and hard work takes me. Got my first AIRBNB. Kelvin and I are in the process of opening WCPOLLC House in ATL. I’m 25. This stage of my life is about becoming the true man I’m destined to be. Having fun, building connections, making a ton of mistakes, fixing them, and most importantly delivering genuine impact. It’s not about how many businesses, money, fame, clout, or success you have. It’s about your calling. What are you called to do, and are you in accordance with that path? Live and Love…
