The Superstar May Be Leaving Golden State Behind or Just Be Getting Ready To Cash Out

Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant has declined his $31.5 million player option according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Coming into the final season of his contract this wasn’t much of a surprise. He can make a maximum of $221 million through five years with the Warriors if he resigns.

If Durant signs with any other team he can make a max of $164 million through four years. At the age of 30, Durant is in the prime of his career but is facing a difficult challenge. The two time NBA Finals MVP tore his Achilles Tendon in Game 5 against the Toronto Raptors.

With that injury being one of the most complex to recover from fully his basketball skills when he returns are a mystery. Durant is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season.

Durant is currently in New York City along with his business manager Rich Kleiman. The teams being considered are rumored to be the Knicks, Clippers, Nets, and Warriors.
