Local rising artist Gordo shares his debut single “Red Light.” We had the chance to ask him about his release and his future in the music business.

The DMV Daily – Who inspired you to make music?

Gordo – Jadakiss

The DMV Daily – How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Gordo – I’m definitely a storyteller depending on the beat I implement real-life situations and give it a vibe

The DMV Daily – What is your creative process like?
 
Gordo – Normally depending on the beat, I try to put down a hook first just to get the vibe. Sometimes it could be just whatever mood I’m in or maybe something I’m going through. 

The DMV Daily – Who would you most like to collaborate with?
 
Gordo – Russ on the song tip & and back and forth with Jadakiss 

The DMV Daily – What is one message you would give to your fans?
 
Gordo – Nothing was built overnight stay down 

The DMV Daily – What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
 
Gordo – A cook at my own food truck. You’d be surprised how I throw down. 

The DMV Daily – Where have you performed?
 
Gordo – Patterson jersey & Philly 

The DMV Daily – How would you say Social Media has impacted your music care?
Gordo – I think it provided me with a platform for the music and for my bars to be able to be heard. A month ago I was able to freestyle to Desean Jackson, Chubbie Baby and Dj Cosmic Kev on IG live during the whole lockdown, and hearing the positive feedback from them goes a long way with me. 
 
The DMV Daily – Which famous musician(s) do you admire?
 
Gordo – I’m a definitely have to go to Jadakiss again because he’s a legend across the world no nothing was built overnight stay low

The DMV Daily – What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
 
Gordo – State Prison. Had a few situations that got me incarcerated a few years ago.
 
The DMV Daily – What is the best advice you’ve been given?
 
Gordo – One hand washes the other 

The DMV Daily – If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Gordo – Definitely would change the streaming royalty’s. I feel like $1 per stream wouldn’t be too much to ask.
The DMV Daily – What’s next for you?
 
Gordo – More singles and visuals. I’m definitely looking to get my name out more.
