Tell us about your recent release:

Pierre Marqui’ – My newest release is called “Sea Feelings”. It’s a song about missing someone’s touch in a sort of way lol. There’s a lot of innuendoes, so get into those lyrics.

Who inspired you to make music?

Pierre Marqui’ – My inspiration for music comes from my life. When I started writing, my first song was actually about my dad. It was called “abandoned child” and I knew since then I could write good music. When I write now it’s the same. Most of my music comes from a relationship or breakup or moods I experience.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Pierre Marqui’ – Typically, I’m writing RnB. But I’ve got a little bit of everything in my library. I live eclectic sounds and mixed genres of music. You can always find a piece of gospel spilled into a run or bridge I write.

What is your creative process like?

Pierre Marqui’ – When I write I’m usually just going through beats. Playing something until I find a melody or chord that strikes something in my brain. Usually ill start to freestyle from there. Once I’ve created like a solid chorus or 1st verse in my head ill try to lay that down so that I can remember and actually see if its what I hear is actually working against the beat once recorded. Then we build from there.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Pierre Marqui’ – I would love to collab with Jazmine Sullivan, Ryan Leslie, Beyonce of course. Nicki Minaj is my favorite rapper of all time so to work with her would be amazing. But I am humbled whenever my art is appreciated so whether the artist is big or small I wanna work with them

What is one message you would give to your fans?

Pierre Marqui’ – Fans? Haha to anyone who would ever be inspired by my words I would just say to love yourself! Go for what you want, and FUCK everybody and anybody in your way. Sometimes the ones closest to you will hold you down the worst. Break free of every chain and go the fuck off!

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Pierre Marqui’ – I’ve worked about every job in the world and nothing compares to writing music. If I couldn’t do it then give me enough money to give it back to the world and be a philanthropist. I really don’t want anything else.

Where have you performed?

Pierre Marqui’ – So far I’ve performed in church and in the shower lol. I am a brand new artist. But look out for me on the local circuit as soon as corona moves out the way!

How would you say Social Media has impacted your music career?

Pierre Marqui’ – Social media is a great tool when used correctly. So far its been helpful is getting people to my music quickly.

Which famous musician(s) do you admire?

Pierre Marqui’ – Nicki Minaj, Jazmine Sullivan, Jayz

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Pierre Marqui’ – When I was in high school some friends and I decided to get drunk on the school bus on the way to school. We only got caught because someone snitched. It was so embarrassing. They came and got me out of class and made me do all these stupid tests. They suspended us all for 10 days lol. My mom didn’t take it too bad for a kid caught drinking in school lol.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Pierre Marqui’ – The best advice I’ve been given is that emotions aren’t fact. We get too tied up in our feelings sometimes that we get in our own way of being able to just move forward and move on. No one is worth your energy.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Pierre Marqui’ – That you have to pretend to be someone your not. And that it’s not about the art anymore. We all love money clothes and diamonds but some of the best artists out there cant sell an album or concert ticket.

What’s next for you?

Pierre Marqui’ – Up next is continuing to write and record and begin performing. I have two collabs in the works with some up-and-coming artists our of New Jersey and Atlanta. Just continue to grind it out!
