Lizzo addressing “rumors” in new song Featuring Cardi B

“All the rumors are true… What ya heard, that’s true…” This is the first line Lizzo sang in her new song “Rumors” as she began to address all the things she has heard about herself recently. She confirms some truths, like cutting off some friends, breaking up with her boyfriend she posted a few times via social media and someone (who wasn’t named) was attempting to sue her.

Visually, the video seemed to be heavily influenced by the Disney classic Hercules, having many references to the singing muses. Many fans have said this was her audition for the live-action Disney remake for the movie that will be in production soon.

Cardi B. also clarifies some of the things she’s heard about herself that are true such as having surgical procedures done and made a million at Sue’s (Rendevous) which is a popular New York gentlemen’s club she once worked at.

Despite the song addressing many rumors in a fun, light-hearted anthem; Lizzo has received hateful comments by trolls since the release.  She took to Instagram to address how she feels. In a live video, she says “I’m putting so much loving energy into the world, and bro sometimes I feel like the world just don’t love me back”

Cardi, who’s always known to speak her mind, gives her support to Lizzo with a tweet saying “When you stand up for yourself they claim you problematic & sensitive. When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you are skinny, big, plastic, they going to always try to put their insecurities on you. Remember these are nerds looking at the popular table.” And defending her, showing how well their new collaboration is doing on the charts, being In The top 10 in multiple genres. Other celebs like Chloe Bailey and Lizzo’s fans stood in solidarity giving assurance that her music is well appreciated.

In more recent days, Lizzo has turned all this negativity into a positive by using her platform to advocate the importance of not letting social pressures hinder, mental health, and bringing awareness to different organizations/ relief funds to help Haiti after its devastating earthquake.
Lizzo’s new song “rumors” is available on all music streaming platforms.
