Mackenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Jeff Bezos CEO of Amazon, continues to make donations to Historically Black Colleges & University (HBCU) as she has given $40 Million to Morgan State University the largest single private donation the school has ever received. In addition, she also donated $15 Million to Elizabeth City State University their largest donation in school history as well.

This continues Mackenzie Scott’s trend of giving charitable contributions to historically black colleges as she has also given multi-million dollar donations to 11 other HBCUs. These include the following: $50 Million to Prarie View A&M University, $40 Million to Norfolk State University, $30 Million to Virginia State University and Winston-Salem State University, $25 Million to Bowie State University, $20 Million to Claflin University, Deleware State University, Lincoln University (PA), and University of Maryland Eastern Shore, $15 Million to Clark Atlanta University and $5 Million to Dillard University.

Scott’s charitable contributions go beyond just HBCUs as she has also donated to several other organizations including Goodwill, Meals on Wheels, YMCA and United Way, NAACP, Global Fund for Women, and ACE.

Morgan State President David Morgan had this to say about Mackenzie Scott’s generous donation,

“This monumental gift will change lives and shape futures. I thank Ms. Scott for her due diligence and acknowledgement of the substantive value Morgan offers to so many throughout this nation and around the world, and entrusting that we will ensure the enduring impact of her generosity is truly transformational for many years to come. Morgan’s dedication to improving the lives of the communities we serve is highly regarded. The receipt of this gift is clear evidence that the rest of the world is also taking notice in Morgan too.”
