For the month of March, we have selected Jayla Ford as our Model of the Month.

 

Q: What is your name?

Jayla: My name is Jayla Ford

Q: What part of the DMV are you from?

Jayla: Im from Suitland, Maryland.

Q: How long have you been modeling for?

Jayla: Ive only been modeling for about 2 years now

Q: What inspired you to start modeling?

Jayla: What inspired me was not seeing anyone who looked me with my hair type to often in the media. I wanted to show people with my skin and my hair that they are truly beautiful.

Q: Name a few modeling opportunities you were involved in. 

Jayla: Though I haven’t been involved in to many high name projects I have been able to work with some amazing companies such as KiraDiorHair, Pink Plastic, and EveryHueBeauty.

Q: Name a few challenges you have faced since you have started modeling and how did you overcame that challenge?

Jayla: I faced challenges along the way such as balancing school, work, as well as modeling and a social life. Its harder than it looks!

Q: Talk about you most recent modeling experience.

Jayla: My last shoot was with an amazing stylist Toni Wilmot (@primalaprincess on IG) I got to wear some amazing clothes and work with even more amazing people!

Q: Word of encouragement for aspiring models?

Jayla: If I had any advice for upcoming models it would be to pick your brand and don’t give up. book shoots yourself reach out to people and never stop marketing its all about how you represent yourself and your confidence.

Q: What are your goals for the future and as far for your modeling career?

Jayla: My dream would to be signed and to eventually be known as a top model globally.

Q: Aside from modeling, are you involved in any other type of activities or businesses?

Jayla: Aside from modeling I am enrolled in school at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in pursuit of becoming a Nurse practitioner.

Q: Name models you look up to?

Jayla: My all time favorite model is no other than Naomi Campbell

Q: Do you support any other models or photographers in the DMV?

Jayla: I support every model from the DMV there are so many talented and beautiful women and men that were practically overflowing with talent!

Abu Sillah is Business Owner from Prince George's County, MD. He serves as the CEO of The DMV Daily and Marketing Manager of The Wig Cafe. Outside of business and media, Abu is a middle school teacher and Promotions Assistant for RadioOne DC. He has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and an M.A. from Bowie State University.
