A week after their 79-0 shutout win over the Howard Bison, the Maryland Terrapins followed that performance up with a dominant 63-20 win over the 21st ranked Syracuse Orange. The 63 points scored by the Terrapins is the most Maryland has ever scored against a ranked opponent.

The Terrapins offense dominated for the second straight week with 650 yards of total offense and nine touchdowns. The Terps dominated on the ground with 354 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns with junior running back Javon Leake leading the team in rushing yards with 107 yards on seven attempts scoring two touchdowns. In addition to Leake, the Terps had three other running backs score rushing touchdowns in the game with sophomore running back Anthony McFarland Jr. scoring two touchdowns.

Maryland quarterback Josh Jackson went 21/38 passing for 296 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the game following his 245 yard 4 touchdown performance last week. All of Jackson’s passing touchdowns came in the first half of the game.

The Terrapins have now scored 19 offensive touchdowns in their first two games and 20 touchdowns overall.

Next week Maryland will play their first road game of the season as they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to play the Temple Owls.
