Multiple firefighters injured in Charles County blaze

Eleven firefighters were injured after fighting a blaze in Charles County, MD.

Nine were initially injured and two more from Prince George’s County went to a local hospital after returning back to their stations.

The fire broke out Friday afternoon on Chamberlin Court in Waldorf.

 

 

The fire was reported around 5 p.m. when someone notice noticed smoke coming from the roof.

Officials say the roof collapsed while firefighters were inside and some needed to be pulled from the structure by first responders.

The firefighters were ordered to evacuate during the operation, the chief says that the injuries are minor.

None of the residents were home while the fire took place.

The Maryland State Fire Marshals are still investigating the fire, they have not determined the cause of it yet.
