Mystics extends win streak with win over Mercury

The Washington Mystics extended their win streak to four games after a win over the Phoenix Mercury 99-93. The win improves the Mystics’ record to 13-6 tying them with the Las Vegas Aces for the second best record in the WNBA and a half game behind the Connecticut Sun for the best record in the WNBA.

The Mystics were led by forward Elena Delle Donne who scored a season-high 33 points as well as six rebounds and three blocks.  Guard Kristi Toliver had 25 points and four assists while guard Natasha Cloud had 12 points and six assists.

The bench for the Mystics was huge as they outscored the Mercury bench 27-10 in the game. Forward Aeriel Powers for the Mystics came off the bench outscoring the Mercury bench 13-10 adding eight rebounds to her statline.

The Mercury were led by center Brittney Griner who had 30 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Guard Leilani Mitchell had 28 points and eight assists while forward DeWanna Bonner had 25 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals. The six remaining players went 5/19 shooting scoring just 10 points with the other two starters for the Mercury going scoreless. The loss for the Mercury drops their record to 10-9.

The Mystics will look to extend their win streak to five games this Friday when they go on the road to face the Seattle Storm.
