NBA News: J. Cole basketball debut, Lakers Documentary, Kobe Hall Of Fame…

Published

The 2021 NBA  playoffs are vastly approaching to either crown a new team as champions or the Lakers bringing the chip back to LA becoming the franchise with the most championship titles.

The NBA play-in tournament games are held between May 18th-21st to secure a seat in the playoffs. Aside from the playoffs, basketball might be a rapper’s new career path as it was reported of an international contract signed in the BAL League for J. Cole.  A video of Cole arriving in Rwanda has somewhat confirmed the rumor to have some truth.  J. Cole is no stranger to basketball and played at Stanford high school in North Carolina. He was also a walk-on briefly at St. John’s university. He is expected to play for Rwanda Patriots and the first game is set for  Sunday against the Nigeria River Hoopers. Cole is also set to release an album on May 14th called ” The Off Season” and releasing a documentary on YouTube “Applying Pressure”

It has been announced that The Lakers has a new docuseries in the works that will be streaming on Hulu.  This project is being managed by Lakers owner, Jeannie Buss as well as Emmy-winning director Antoine Fuqua. The series will cover the last 4 decades of the team and will feature former coaches like the legendary Phil Jackson and all-star players like Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and Magic Johnson to name a few. The documentary has been said to have about 35 plus exclusive interviews also showing never-before-seen footage from the late owner Jerry Buss. No word on an official date, but it is set to premiere in the year 2022.

“I promise you, from this day forward, I will live with the memories of knowing that I had a little brother that I tried to help in every way I could”. A statement Michael Jordan said about his friend Kobe Bryant at his memorial service in late February. In honor of Kobe, Michael Jordan will be the presenter for Kobe Bryant’s posthumous Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The enshrinement ceremony is on May 15 in Uncasville, Connecticut.  Kobe was elected into the Hall of fame last April in his first year of eligibility. Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and a host of others are expected to enter the Basketball Hall of Fame as well. The original ceremony was supposed to happen in April but was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
