P. George’s: A Brand Representing Gorgeous Prince George’s County

Published

on

Inspired by the culture and uniqueness within the area, Temple Hills resident Lielte Chaney created a brand that represents Prince George’s County called P. George’s. Chaney is a wife and mother of two girls who has always had a strong pride for P.G. County, and reps it whenever possible. After seeing clothing brands for D.C. and other major cities, she felt the need to create something for her county which she truly loves.

Q: Tell us about your chosen career path:

Lielte Chaney: I’m a full-time operating room nurse. I’ve always enjoyed helping people, so nursing was a pretty easy decision.

Q: Who inspired you to make the decision to do this career path?

Lielte Chaney: Both of my parents came from Ethiopia and work in healthcare (my mother is also a nurse), they were my biggest inspiration.

Q: What is your creative process like?

Lielte Chaney: That’s something I’m still figuring out, but I like to go over ideas with my husband. He helped me to start the brand.

Q: How did you come up with the name of your company?

Lielte Chaney: I just wanted to play off of PG County’s name in a way that would sound stylish.

Q: Who and/or which things are the inspiration while creating any design?

Lielte Chaney:  Just the people and places within PG County, and our love for home. We’re always lumped in with the DMV, but the M deserves to be emphasized.

Q: What is one message you would give to your supporters?

Lielte Chaney: Thanks to each and every one of you. I hope this is something that you can wear proudly to represent PG at home and all over the world!

Q: What are some of your strengths and weaknesses?

Lielte Chaney: Strengths: I can see the good in most people things / When I do something, I try my best to do it to perfection.

Weaknesses: As a perfectionist, I sometimes talk myself out of things that could be good for me out of fear of failure.

Q: What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your chosen career?

Lielte Chaney: I’ve always wanted to study culinary arts. I’d love to have a small coffee/pastry shop.

Q: How would you say Social Media has impacted your career?

Lielte Chaney: I don’t really use social media actually. But there are a few accounts that help to keep me motivated both personally and professionally.

Q: Who do you admire the most and why?

Lielte Chaney: My husband, because he sees things in me that I can’t see in myself and always pushes me to reach my potential.

Q: How many hours a day do you work on average?

Lielte Chaney: Officially about 9-10…but as a mother, work is never really done 🙂

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Lielte Chaney: What God has for you is for you, no matter how long it takes, that’s from my late Emama (grandmother in Amharic)

Q: If you could change anything about your past, what would it be?

Lielte Chaney: I would do more to strengthen/maintain relationships with some family members, but it’s something I’m currently working on.

Q: What’s next for you?

Lielte Chaney: I’m thinking of ways to benefit the public schools in PG county, perhaps with a partnership. I’m still figuring out how I want to do it.
