We are now in a time where it is vital to be able to multitask and use technology to our best advantage. Today’s society forces millennials and generation-z to make the most of their situations. Every day is a chance to better one’s future and that is what a young lady from Baltimore, MD is doing. 24-Year-Old
Destiny Harris, who works as a Rehabilitation Counselor, knows what it is like to take on heavy loads of work. Balancing motherhood and work is not easy but Harris embraces her role by mentoring 30+ young girls with their daily life needs while working full time and working on a master’s degree.

Destiny Harris currently works with Baltimore’s PRP company, Redesigning Minds, and attends the illustrious Morgan State University. Growing up, Destiny experienced several hardships which fuel her to help girls seek their ultimate potential. Some of the main areas she focuses on are personal growth & development skills, hygiene, and sisterhood just to name a few. Destiny is very passionate about improving the community with her social work background by providing opportunities for inner-city girls.

Baltimore aka Charm City is a place where many people notice and talk about negativity within the area instead of the positive. Well, Destiny has a mission to change that by being a leader for girls who can learn how to be their true selves.

We spoke with the Redesigning Minds Program Director Cinnisha Lewis and learned that Destiny grew to love helping the girls so much that she went back to get her masters solely to be able to add more value to the girl’s lives directly.

“From the day I met Destiny, I noticed her dedication to bringing out the happiness in each client that she encountered. The girls and parents both truly adore Destiny’s commitment, it’s an honor to be a part of her journey to success” – Cinnisha Lewis

Taking on such a hectic schedule can be quite overwhelming, yet Destiny finds a way to fuel herself up to serve her purpose to all of the lives that she is a part of. Since the start of 2021, Destiny has held over 5 events for her caseload with one of them being a Tie Dye event. All of her events are therapeutic and geared towards mental health. She knows the importance of stress, grief, and trauma for young girls so she often takes them to nice parks so they can have open discussions on improving any issues that may arise.

Soon the world will be a much better place with more people like Destiny. She is constantly setting the standards for women that may have self-doubt, low self-esteem, or lack of drive. She understands people from all backgrounds because she was once in a depressed state. Now that she has found her calling, she is now thrilled to pour into others so they can also seek great things like herself.
