Star players from the opening night of the Playoffs

The NBA playoffs have arrived and began its first round of games for the conference on August 17th,2020. There were four games played: Jazz VS Nuggets, Nets VS Raptors, Celtics VS 76ers, and the Clippers VS Mavericks. Fans can watch games on ESPN, NBA TV, and other streaming services. Here are a few players from the premiere night round of games which had an all-star performance to set the tone for the playoffs.

The first game that debuted for the playoffs was the Jazz VS The Nuggets. The Nuggets may have won, but the star player of the night was Utah Jazz, Donovan Mitchell. He finished the game with a score of 57 points, almost contributing a double-double to his stats with close to 10 rebounds for the night. With this amount of points, he became the third player to have the most points in an NBA playoff game in its history. Michael Jordan is first with 63 points and Elgin Baylor with 61. Mitchell shot 19 for 33 and a perfect 13/13 at the free-throw line. This game shattered the previous point record held by Karl Malone with 50 points. He played an exceptional game leading the team in points, but the Jazz started off the series with their first loss. After the game, Mitchell stated, “At the end of the day, I know there’s no home court, but they did their job. I told the guys in the locker room; we could lose by 60, we could lose by one. We lost by ten tonight. It’s Game 1. It’s one loss.

Many fans have said the Raptors could be competition in the NBA conference. Fred VanFleet is proving that this team is a threat to the conference standings. The Raptors had an overall excellent game continuing their momentum from the pre-season games. The final score for their first game was 115-135. Fred VanFleet was 8 for ten from the 3-point line. He also had 11 assists with one turnover becoming the first raptor player to have a combined stat of 30+ points and 10+ assists.
The next game broadcasted in the line-up was the 76ers and Celtics. 76ers Joel Embiid had a surpassing game, but this couldn’t hold the Celtics Defense and Tatum’s game of 32 points with 13 assists to top off the Win in the first round. Jaylen Brown also scored 15 of the 29 points he had in the fourth quarter. Kemba Walker added 19 points to the score causing.

The last game of the premiere night playoff games was the Clippers VS Mavericks. Clippers stars Paul George and Kahwi Leanord had a combined 56 points for the first win for the team. Luka Doncic had an excellent game on the Mavericks, leading with 42 points. Overall, the two teams had a very similar percentage in rebound, blocks, turnovers, and three-pointer percentages. Clippers kept a steady lead each quarter after the first, eventually leading to the W and the 1st round Win to lead the bracket.

The world is at a standstill with this pandemic, and the NBA has now been confided into what is known as the “NBA Bubble”. Fans cannot get a ticket to be at a game physically but can have a virtual seat. The NBA Has partnered with Microsoft to have fans on the big screen with a virtual seat to a live game in real-time. All you need is a computer. Each game’s home team is given seat priority.

Playoff games will continue to broadcast every day until the series finals in late September.
