Potomac student gunned down in Oxon hill

A teenager who was shot at an apartment complex in Oxon Hill, Maryland passed away Thursday morning according to officials.

It’s confirmed the teenager was a 11th grade student at Potomac high school. The shooting occurred the 1400 block of Iverson Street shortly before 3 p.m. Very close to the school.

The student was found on the ground, blood soaked. The student was transferred to the hospital where he pronounced dead. His backpack was also found, it was seized for evidence.

Local residents told officials they head about two to three gunshots during the time. Police are still on the lookout for a motive and suspect. PGCPS acknowledged the death and mourns it as well.

Security and police force will be increased around the school till further notice.
