Team USA Picks Up JaVale McGee & Keldon Johnson
San Antonio Spurs Keldon Johnson and Denver Nuggets JaVale McGree will be the replacements for the power forward Kevin Love and shooting guard Bradley Beal on Team USA.
Kevin Love released this statement on his decision to leave the team.
“I am incredibly disappointed to not be heading to Tokyo with Team USA, “but you need to be at absolute peak performance to compete at the Olympic level and I am just not there yet.” – Kevin Love
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Love opted to miss the Olympics. He has been struggling with his right calf injury all season and missed 46-games.
Johnson is no stranger to the team and had been playing to Team Select USA. McGee also had been a finalist for the Team USA roster.
This season Johnson averaged 12.8 points and six rebounds with the Spurs this season.
Team USA will play their Olympic opener against France on July 25th.
