Team USA Woes Continues as SG Zach LaVine Placed on COVID-19 Protocol

Published

on

Since losing the first two exhibition games and starter Bradley Beal, Team USA has not been on the path they expected. Now the men’s basketball team has struck another bad fortune with All-Star Zach LaVine being placed on COVID-19 Protocol.

Since the rough start, the team has bounced back with two straight exhibition wins and new additions Keldon Johnson and JaVale Mcgee. LaVine a huge part of the offense won’t be flying with his teammates to Japan today. The USA Basketball team announced the COVID-19 health and safety protocol today.

Forward Jerami Grant was also placed on protocol last week but still remains on the roster. The Olympics open ceremony will be on July 25th, while the men’s team faces off against France the same day.

LaVine averaged a career-high 27.4 points per game with the Chicago Bulls this season and earned his first All-Star appearance. If he cannot make a return it’s unclear who will replace the shooting guard.
