A Chicago artist who has been killing it consistently for years, Goody is a rapper who knows how to offer up lyricism and pop appeal, spazzing with finesse. The Chicago artist is definitely on the up and up with new videos out and a project on the way, we had a chance to reach out to Goody for a Q&A courtesy of RESPECT Magazine editor Jasmine Johnson who helped set it up. Get to know a little bit about Goody in this new interview.

Q & A with Goody

Who is Goody? Tell us about who you are and how you got your start in music?
Goody is a rapper from Chicago. I got my start in music through my family. All my uncles & cousins do some form of music. 
What was it like growing up on the south side of Chicago?
Growing up on the south side of Chicago is tough, but your learn things fast cause everyone has to mature at a fast pace because of what the city exposes you to. 
What motivates you?
The ability to take care of my family. 
You’ve been putting out music for a few years now. What are some things about recording, marketing and branding that you know now that you wish you knew when you first started releasing music?
Brand strong, brand strong, and make the best music you possibly can at a consistent pace. 
What music did you grow up listening to?
I listened to a lot of Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye, Mase, TLC, destiny child. That’s was all that my sisters and cousins played growing up. 
Who in your life inspires you the most?
My big cousin David.
I heard you say Jay-Z is one of your biggest musical influences. This might be difficult but what is your favorite album by Jay-Z?
Lol It’s not difficult at all. The best Jay-Z album is Blueprint. My favorite album is American Gangster. 
How do you categorize your music?
I just make music. I don’t like to put it in a category, cause I feel like it’s always evolving. 
What’s your favorite verse you’ve ever spit? The first verse in Front My Move. 
What are your plans for the rest of 2018?
Releasing a full length project. 
Where do you want to be by this time next year?
I just want to be in a place where I’m able to help provide for the people that love me. That’s enough for me.
