The DMV Daily Interviews: Lyri

1) I dropped out of Florida A&M University to pursue my dreams at 17.

2) I used to play piano, sing in the choir, and I can read/write music, the music written by Beethoven and shit.

3) One of my goals is to create a suicide foundation/shelter branded “Think Twice Before You Slice” because I also was suicidal as a young teenager.

Charismatic, Driven, Sarcastic, Competitive, and Intellectual.

I prepare as soon as I start the writing process, which could be as long as a week, depending on the length & detail of alliteration I choose to apply. As I write, I recite my raps repeatedly, fine tuning the tone I want to have, making  sure my words don’t run together and they are well pronounced. When it comes time to record, three fat ass jays of purp or diesel (the latter preferred) and I’m set.

Remedial. It’s not about music anymore. If your image can sell, you set. It’s too lenient of an industry. We letting anyone call themselves an MC but can’t compose a simple metaphor, let alone even know what MC stands for. People encouraging trash that their friends are putting out simply because they’re friends. There’s no standard anymore. Take the beat off any mainstream song, print the lyrics on paper,&  I guarantee you will have a lowered IQ when you finish reading the first verse. Stupid sells. And if it’s covered in designer they disregard that it’s dumb. It’s an entertainment industry now, music isn’t even close to the focus anymore.

I need one good Dr. Dre beat.
