What’s your full name? And give us a background about you
Tyler Gagnon, I’m 21 based out of Maryland. I’ve lived all around the world being raised in Europe in my early years and now currently living in the States. I’ve been producing for two years, starting on logic in my bedroom and building my way up to a professional level commercial Music Studio based out of Waldorf, MD.
Describe yourself with a music lyric
Nonstop – Drake “This a Rollie, not a stop watch, shit don’t ever stop.”
Three things about you that nobody knows?
1. I was born with a cleft lip but the amazing part is that it actually healed itself before I was born
2. When I was little I used to live in England and had a British accent for the longest time.
3. I’ve done missions trip in Los Angeles , Philippines, Zambia, and Haiti
Describe your musical origin?
Nobody in my family is musical. So I don’t know how the hell I became musical but I’m not complaining. haha
Your favorite producers of all time and why? 
Metro Boomin, Jon Bellion, Dr. Dre
 All three of them have carved their own path, with their own sound, and never moved away from that.
– Dre pioneered the Hip-Hip game. Completely flipped it on its head and that’s enough to get me moving.
– Jon Bellion Pioneers the meaning of original music making. Everything you hear in his music is created by him. When you figure out what he used to make a certain sound, it blows your mind.
– I just trust Metro Boomin. I hope he trusts me back.
Biggest musical influences?
My dad actually influenced me heavily. He is ALL into Classic Rock so that’s what I grew up with.
My sister got me into electronic music at a young age too and that’s really what made me jump into the world of programming and electronic music across all genres.

What are your pre and post studio/performances production traditions?
 Pre – I make it a point to grab my coffee, my nicotine, and some cereal. I go outside and spend 10 minutes taking in the air. I find it incredibly valuable to be outside before you lock in to the session.
Post – I sleep. Im drained after a performance or a session.
Describe the process of you making a production
Refer to the answer above, after that I’ll sit at my desk and go through music I’d like to listen to that day, watch some videos of top producers to get some inspiration and then I’ll jump into a session.
I’d like to think I’m a Rhythm First Producer, but i always start with a melody. Thats where I grab the emotion of the track first. After I find my melody and the instrument to go with it, I jump to the percussion. I drum so this truly is my favorite part. Once I have the foundation laid down I start running through any embellishments and special FX I’d like to add.

What are some current challenges you face as a upcoming, independent producer? 
 The lack of a presence in the industry, and the lack of a trusted brand name. These things take time. It’s hard enough to sell people on your vision in real life, it’s even harder to do online, and that’s where I am most of the time. I’ll get there though.
 
What’s your opinion about the music industry?
I think the state in which the music industry is in right now is trash. The commercial side at least. We are at a place right now where 90 percent of the artists who are hot right now will die out within the next 3 – 5 years and never be heard of again. Music is so instant and so fast paced, the sustainability and longevity is almost non existent.
If you could change one thing about it, what would you change and how?
If/when I have that power, I’d want to change the heart of the music industry. Money is the bane of our existence and it’s literally the fuel that moves the music. That’s worst possible circumstance we could be in. I have big plans to shift the direction to a more uplifting and empowering platform for all creatives; but all in good time.  – Tyler
