Creed Two Continues A Line Of Solid Movies
Creed 2 stars rising Hollywood superstar Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, and the legend Sylvester Stallone. With heavy anticipation for the film, I must say while it’s not quite the showstopper that its predecessor was, Creed II is still enjoyable. There’s diligence of what made Creed work so well without it feeling like a lethargic rehash.
This time, Adonis (Jordan) is the light-heavyweight champion of the world, in a relationship with his pregnant musician girlfriend Bianca (Tessa Thompson). He’s still living near and working out with a recovering Rocky (Sylvester Stallone). But there’s discontent from boxing pundits, a feeling that his title is the result of no worthy challenge. On the other side of the world, Rocky’s former nemesis Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the man who killed Apollo in the ring, is training his son Viktor (Florian Munteanu). Adonis is up to the challenge, put his title, and his life on the line Vs. Viktor.
With stunning fight scenes, great acting, and good character development, Creed 2 is a solid film all the way around. Another plus would be the great soundtrack which rivals the Grammy nominated Black Panther 2 soundtrack. While the film doesn’t push the envelope, it avoid a common film trope. It avoids being a disappointing sequel and that’s okay with me!
