Lil Wayne is back and better than ever with The Carter V

The self proclaim ‘greatest rapper alive is back and better than ever with the long awaited ‘The Carter V.’  After years of health issues, a dispute with Birdman, and a bunch of other issues The Carter V is finally here! This album was a nice throwback to the mid 2000s when Wayne was at top of the rap game. However he throws in a little twist with this project, he ties he signatures out of this world metaphor an punchlines with modern day production. It makes the album versatile enough to hit faithful Lil Wayne fans and to draw in the new generation of music fans.

The major strength of the album is the simple fact that it’s not ‘skippable’, the creativity of each track fitting into the overall discography, the outstanding features by some of the industry’s heavy hitters, and the hunger Wayne exudes in every bar to show that he is still a force in the industry.  The Carter V has a grittier, almost Carter II feel to it! After being through so much adversity, you feel his triumph and perseverance in every song.  Some of my favorite tracks are ‘Don’t Cry Ft XXX…,  and Mona Lisa Ft Kendrick.’ I’m just happy we have Weezy F Baby back! Before I drop my final verdict………..

While so far, it’s not the best Carter album he dropped, it’s his most important and impressive project. In classic Wayne fashion below I will my Wayne quotes from the album:

“She tell ‘im, ‘Ooh, daddy, let’s go to your place/ And if he say, ‘Yeah’, then we meet him there/ She feed him lies with his silverware/ She don’t want love, she just want her share.” – “Mona Lisa” Feat. Kendrick Lamar

“It’s a shit show, put you front row/ Talkin’ shit, bro? Let your tongue show/ Money over bitches and the bottom hoes/ That is still my favorite love quote/ Put the gun inside, what the fuck for/ I sleep with the gun, then she don’t snore.” – “Uproar”

“I sip from the fountain of youth/ So if I die young, blame the juice/ Bury me in New Orleans/ Tombstone reads ‘Don’t cry, stay tuned/ Bring me back to life/ Got to lose a life just to have a life/ But if heaven’s as good as advertised/ I want a triple extension on my motherfuckin’ afterlife/ Rest in paradise – “Don’t Cry” Feat. XXXTentacion

“You always see me with the white cup/ Some people say that is a bad look/ But take a good look at what you are lookin’ at/ You never know when it’s your last look/ It’s written all over my face/ These tattoos, they can’t be erased/ One of a kind, I can’t be replaced.” – “Dope New Gospel” Feat. Nivea

Final Verdict 9.5/10 Album of the month for September

Pros: Classic Wayne Bars, dope features, very well put together, creativity

Cons: May sound a  little outdated to a few listeners
