The Georgetown Hoyas Secured A BIG Win Over St. John’s 59-34
Washington, D.C. — After a tightly played opening stretch, the Georgetown Hoyas found early production from Destiny Agubata and Chetanna Nweke, who combined for Georgetown’s first nine points. Defense quickly became the difference, as an 11-0 run late in the first quarter—powered by eight points from Laila Jewett—gave Georgetown a 20-8 lead after one.
The Blue & Gray continued to control the tempo in the second quarter, extending the advantage to as many as 16 points. St. John’s briefly responded, but Georgetown maintained its edge and carried a 34-19 lead into halftime.
St. John’s trimmed the margin to 11 midway through the third quarter, but the Hoyas answered with authority. A Cristen Carter layup sparked another 11-0 run to close the period, sending Georgetown into the fourth quarter up 47-25. Jewett opened the final stanza with a three-pointer, and Georgetown’s defense and rebounding continued to wear down the Red Storm as the lead grew to as many as 30.

Agubata led all scorers for the second straight game with 15 points, adding four assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Jewett finished with 13 points, including three triples, while Brianna Byars anchored the interior with eight points, a team-high seven rebounds, and an assist. Nweke contributed early offense, helping set the tone in the opening quarter.
Good Shooting Night
Georgetown shot 40.0 percent (22-for-55) from the field and limited St. John’s to just 28.6 percent (12-for-42). The Hoyas dominated the glass by a 40-26 margin, including a 15-6 edge on the offensive boards, and forced 18 turnovers on eight steals.
For St. John’s, Brooke Moore scored 11 points and added two rebounds, while Sa’Mya Wyatt tied a career high with 13 rebounds. Destiny Agubata’s balanced performance and Georgetown’s team defense helped hold the Red Storm to their lowest scoring output of the season, marking the fewest points allowed by the Hoyas against a Division I opponent since 2018.
