Vanderbilt Commodores kicker Sarah Fuller makes College Football History

Published

on

The Vanderbilt Commodores made college football history when placekicker Sarah Fuller became the first woman to play in a college football game for a Power 5 conference. The history-making play was Fuller kicking the opening kickoff of the second half for the Commodores against the Missouri Tigers.

Sarah Fuller is a senior Medicine, Health and Society major from Wylie, Texas. She has also played for the Commodores women’s soccer team as a goalkeeper.

In her four years with the women’s soccer team, she received little to no playing time in her first three years the team not playing a single game as a freshman and just one as a sophomore and junior. It was in Sarah’s senior season where she got a chance to shine for the Commodores soccer team playing nine games recording 28 saves with a 7-2 record.

Just six days earlier, she helped Vanderbilt win the SEC Women’s Soccer Championship after beating the Arkansas Razorbacks 3-1 in Orange Beach, Alabama. At the game’s conclusion, she returned to Vanderbilt joining the football team, and was cleared to play in their game in Missouri against the Missouri Tigers.
