Virginia In-person Early Voting Begins Today

Today early in-person voting begins in Virginia. Until Saturday, October 31, by 5 p.m., all Virginia residents now can cast their first ballots for the November 2020 elections.

The early voting period starts with varying dates and hours, depending on location. All residents can look up there voting location using this link.

To properly cast a Virginia ballot, all residents must bring an acceptable form of ID. For information on proper forms of identification, please visit this link.

Voters without ID can sign a statement form to cast their ballot but otherwise can receive a provisional ballot.

Before arrival, Virginia Residents can check their voter registration online at this link before arrival at early voting.

ABSENTEE/VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS

Other Virginia voting options still include absentee by mail. Residents can apply online and visit the Citizen Portal to check the status of their absentee application. The ballot must be postmarked by November 3 and arrive at the local registrar’s office by noon Friday, November 6.

The Department of Elections does offer an online tracking system for voters that have requested an absentee ballot. Other options include “vote by mail.” There will be ballot drop boxes’ available.

IN – PERSON

If voting in-person on election day, residents have from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters must be in line by 7 p.m.

DEADLINES

October 13: Last day to register to vote or update an address

October 23: Last day to request an absentee ballot

October 31: Last day to vote early with an absentee ballot in-person

November 3: Last day to vote. In-person 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters must be in line by 7 p.m. Last day for Postmark ballots.
