Washington Mystics beat Connecticut Sun in WNBA Finals Rematch

The Washington Mystics have won their second straight game to start the 2020 WNBA season following a 94-89 win against the Connecticut Sun the team the Mystics beat in the 2019 WNBA Finals.

Aerial Powers led the Mystics in scoring a career-high 27 points on 10/14 shooting including four three-pointers adding four rebounds and three assists.

Ariel Atkins and Myisha Hines-Allen each scored 16 points for the Mystics with Atkins hitting 3 three-pointers and Hines-Allen adding eight rebounds and three steals. Reigning WNBA Finals MVP Emma Meesseman finished with 12 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

The Sun were led by DeWanna Bonner who finished with 29 points connecting on four of her team’s seven three-pointers while adding nine rebounds and five assists. Bonner’s two steals in the game helped her reach 401 career steals making her one of six active players in the WNBA to reach that milestone.

Alyssa Thomas finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds and three assists for the Sun. Outside of Dewanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas, the Sun scored just 32 points on 10/37 shooting.

The Mystics will be back in action on Thursday when they face the Seattle Storm.
