For the second time in the 2020 WNBA season, Washington Mystics center Myisha Hines-Allen has been named WNBA Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season.

In Myisha Hines-Allen’s four games this week, she averaged 24.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 60% shooting from the field and 67% shooting from three-point range. The Mystics went on to finish with a perfect 4-0 record, including an 85-78 win over the Atlanta Dream that allowed them to clinch the eighth and final playoff spot.

This season, Myisha Hines-Allen is 10th in the WNBA in points per game (17.0) with the highest field goal percentage (51%) and three-point percentage (43%) of any player in the top 10 in scoring while also having the fifth-highest rebound average (8.9). She could potentially be in the running for the Most Improved Player award as, before this season, she had never averaged more than five points or five rebounds, receiving minimal playing time.

She has taken advantage of an opportunity to help lead a Mystics team back to the postseason despite playing without reigning league MVP Elena Delle Donne, championship counterparts Natasha Cloud and Kristi Tolliver (now with the Los Angeles Sparks, and former MVP Tina Charles.

The Mystics road to repeating as WNBA champions begin Tuesday when they play a Phoenix Mercury led by former MVP Diana Taurasi, and All-Stars Brittney Griner and Skylar Diggins-Smith. This season, the Mercury beat the Mystics in both games they played with their most recent meeting seeing the Mercury take a dominant 94-72 win.

In those games against the Mercury, Myisha Hines-Allen struggled, averaging just 12 points on 32% shooting while Diana Taurasi averaged 24 points on 54% shooting.

Should the Mystics win their first-round matchup against the Mercury, they will go on to play the Los Angeles Sparks in the second round.
