Washington Mystics Expect Elena Delle Donne to Progress During WNBA Break

Washington Mystics and two-time MVP Elena Delle Donne are expected to progress her recovery process during the WNBA break.

With the 2020 Toyko Olympics starting, the WNBA has a month-long break. During the first week players have off, individual workouts and practices begin subsequently.  Delle Donne hasn’t played since the Mystics 2019 championship season.

Head coach Mike Thibault said this about the star:

“When we start practicing again the intent is to try to integrate her into a fair amount of the practices. Elena has been feeling better. We’ll see how it translates once she starts getting physical contact, but that’s still a few weeks off.” – Mike Thibault

Delle Donne has been regulated all season to individual workouts during practices. She is recovering from her second back procedure since the 2019 WNBA finals, both of which originate from her herniated discs. The process is still a long one as the 31-year-old has yet to participate in five on five drills.

The Washington Mystics enter the break with a record of 8-10. They currently sit in the 8th spot of the Eastern Conference.
