North Carolina artist Holliday Rivera from Durham, NC. I’ve been rapping since 2015 and I have released one album and several mixtapes! I love rap/hip and I’m trying to bring something unique to the game! The visuals were Directed, Shot, and Edited by @Vnice2.0.
Tell us about your recent release:
Holliday Rivera – I just released my single “Pain” this week! The song reflects on the pain I’ve experienced in life but I persevered through the trials and tribulations. Check out my mixtape “Da Wave” with DJ Holiday too!
Who inspired you to make music?
Holliday Rivera – My family! They always been supportive since day 1 and also my late homie Chris Smith! He passed away in high school and it was devastating but it taught me how to appreciate life. It inspired me to accomplish my goals and shoot for my dreams!
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Holliday Rivera – Smooth, Gritty, Honest, Inspiring, it really depends on my mood and the beat selection but I always match the energy.
What is your creative process like?
Holliday Rivera – My creative process is beautiful! I’m inspired by my life and the world we live in! I have creative control so it’s nice to think of an idea then go lay it down in the studio! I’m always challenging myself with different beats and features!
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Holliday Rivera – I would most like to collaborate with Kendrick, J.Cole, Dave East, G Herbo, Griselda etc anyone lyrical! I also want to collaborate with a lot of legends of course, too many to name! Also some R&B artists or a different genre! I’m open as long as the sound and production is on point!
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Holliday Rivera – My message would be to keep grinding! The industry is tough! It’s like sports, just keep improving your craft! I would also say be true to yourself and always believe in yourself!
What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?
Holliday Rivera – If I wasn’t doing music, I would still work with kids and teenagers! I do it still despite my career! I love working with the youth and giving back to the community! It’s better to show love then show hate!
Where have you performed?
Holliday Rivera – Mostly in North Carolina but I’ve performed in a couple of local states too like VA, SC, GA!  I’ve also performed in NY & LA too. I’m looking forward to performing in Texas this year!
How would you say Social Media has impacted your music career?
Holliday Rivera – It has had a significant impact on my music career as far as creating a fan base, promoting my music, and networking! Social Media can be a gift and a curse! You just have to promote yourself right and be consistent!
Which famous musician(s) do you admire?
Holliday Rivera – As far as rap, 2pac, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z, etc I can go on for days but I listen to a lot of Dave East, G Herbo, J Cole, Nipsey, Kendrick, etc! I like that lyrical sound!
What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
Holliday Rivera – I caught a charge in high school but I’m not going to get into the details. You live and you learn!
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Holliday Rivera – I get the best advice from my parents! They always are honest with me and tell me what I need to hear! My team is also great! I’m fortunate to be around a lot of wise people!
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Holliday Rivera – I just wish artists were more authentic like in the 90s and early 2000s. The different rap styles are cool but I want the industry to embrace an artist trying to be unique rather than an industrial plant with a generic flow! I’m not sure we are rewarding the right artists as far as talent and work ethic.
What’s next for you?
Holliday Rivera – The next move for me is my EP! I’m also working on several mixtapes and another album! I just want to stay fresh and keep coming with different ideas! We working, you watching!
