The Atlanta Rapper Has Been Released From ICE Custody After 9 Days
Attorneys for 21 Savage said today that the rapper has finally been released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Kuck Baxter Immigration LLC shared this statement on their Facebook page addressing the rapper.
She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was taken into custody earlier this month after being accused of overstaying his visa. ICE made it known the rapper was born in Britain and came to America in 2005. His visa was said to expire in 2006.
His lawyers confirmed that information was true, but stated the rapper was “left without legal status through no fault of his own.”
Also stated was:
“This is a civil law violation, and the continued detention of Mr. Abraham-Joseph serves no other purpose than to unnecessarily punish him and try to intimidate him into giving up his right to fight to remain in the United States.”
“Obviously, our client is not a flight risk, as he is widely recognizable, and a prominent member of the music industry. Likewise, Mr. Abraham-Joseph is clearly not a danger to the community, and in fact, his contributions to local communities and schools that he grew up in are examples of the type of immigrant we want in America.” – Kuck Baxter Immigration
Support has been shown from other celebrities and rappers since the news broke. It is said Jay-Z also is paying for his legal fees while this case goes on. Post Malone rocked a free 21 Savage shit during the Grammy Awards.
More will be provided on this case as details develop.
