At least 20 shootings in the District during Memorial Day Weekend

There has been a stretch of violence in the District with at least 20 shootings taking place during Memorial Day weekend.

Reports for the shootings began on Friday night and continued into Saturday in different parts of D.C.

  • On Sunday, a 15-year-old was killed and three others were wounded in a shooting taking place outside of a liquor on Wheeler Road in Southeast D.C. The person identified was Maurice Scott, a student at Somerset Prep in D.C. He passed away at the hospital.
  • Monday afternoon, another shooting took place on the 1200 block of Sumner Road SE injuring four men and a boy. All survived the shooting and were transported to the nearby hospitals
  • Before midnight, two men were shot on the 2600 block of Birney Street. One of the men died on the scene and the other victim was shot in the foot

No arrest have been made in any of these cases.
