As of this Friday morning, Baltimore City is only five homicides away from reaching 300 murders for the sixth year in a row. 295 total murders and 652 non-fatal shootings are accumulated so far in 2020.

Last year during this time Baltimore had 307 homicides along with 701 non-fatal shootings. 2019 ended with a record-breaking 348 total killings. The per capita was also record-breaking it reached 57 per 100,000 people.

The city was on pace to break that this year, but the limitations COVID-19 brought have been speculated to be a reason that number stopped rising. Others say it still has been violent and hasn’t changed much.

Baltimore holds just over 600,000 residents.
