Baltimore Non-Profit and the Mothers of the Movement Team Up for National Voting Awareness Campaign ‘VOTE #BecauseTheyMatter’

Baltimore Non-Profit and the Mothers of the Movement Team Up for National Voting Awareness Campaign ‘VOTE #BecauseTheyMatter’
  • PublishedOctober 31, 2020

Black women have always been at the forefront of every fight for social justice in the United States and the historical upcoming election will be no different. Baltimore non-profit organization Pure Potential Enterprises, Inc. has teamed up with Gwen Carr (mother of Eric Garner) and Nadia Fischer (Social Justice Publicist) to encourage all US citizens to vote.

The visual digs into the history of African American socioeconomic struggle with the ⅗ Compromise, and the countless lives lost at the hands of the justice system due to police brutality. You’re reminded of why we vote and what ancestors had to encounter to have the right to do so with events like the 1913 Women’s Suffrage March. The video reminds all that citizens have the power to inflict change, locally and nationally, by voting.

The video was directed and produced by Delanee-Alexis Coley of Pure Potential Enterprises, Inc. and features Pure Potential Enterprises staff and it’s 2020-2021 Collegiate Cohort, Gwen Carr (mother of Eric Garner), Nadia Fischer (Social Justice Publicist and Prison Reform Activist), and members of Greek organizations. The video also features students and graduates of Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Texas Southern University, Towson University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and more.

Pure Potential Enterprises encourages you to share the video on all social platforms throughout the election season to generate awareness for U.S citizens, young and old.

ABOUT PURE POTENTIAL ENTERPRISES, INC.

Founded in 2008 by Phyllis Coley, Pure Potential Enterprises, Inc. serves as a bridge to decrease the opportunity gap that exists within our community, negatively affecting the disenfranchised and under-served youth. The organization focuses on the whole child, acting as a support system to address the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of our scholars. We believe in their dreams, we assist them in reshaping a dream into a vision, and from a vision to an achievable goal.  When children and teens enter our doors, we consider each one of them a PPE Scholar. Our goal is to help each scholar become the best version of themselves as we prepare and guide them on their journey to higher education.
