Virginia daycare owner arrested after three children were exposed to THC

According to authorities, a daycare owner in Stafford was arrested after three toddlers were exposed to THC.

According to authorities, the youngsters, all one year old, were transported to the emergency hospital after their parents noticed their children’s lethargic and uncoordinated conduct, as well as glassy, bloodshot eyes.

The symptoms were promptly identified by hospital professionals, and tests revealed that each infant had been exposed to THC. THC is the primary psychoactive component in cannabis that causes a high feeling.

The three families were linked via a licensed home daycare provider in the Windsor Forest community on Wilderness Court.

Detective A. Sanchez searched the daycare and took Goldfish crackers from the toddlers’ high chairs. These crackers were taken to the lab for testing, and the presence of THC was confirmed.

The case was referred to Child Protective Services, which became involved. Following that, the childcare voluntarily relinquished its license.

Rebecca Swanner, 60, the daycare proprietor, was charged with three charges of cruelty and injury to children as a consequence of the inquiry. On Thursday, she self-surrendered and was released by the court on a $2,000 unsecured bond.
