′Jay Cousteau, El Cousteau, And LULBIGBROTHER Came Together For A Fantastic Show
“What A Night” is one of the best music events I’ve been to all year! It was s phenomenal experience with great performers, dope music and an impressive lineup of rising rappers from the DMV. The Velvet Lounge show featured performances from Jay Cousteau, El Cousteau, LULBIGBROTHER, Lil Dream, and Shogun Gunna.

The atmosphere of the show was filled with an energy of excitement. The sold out concert had a packed audience that was there for the ride, respecting the performers and showing love. They weren’t stale or stagnant dancing bouncing and even jumping to beats. They were particularly hyped for El Cousteau, the DC buzzmaker had the whole crowd CRANKING as thev recipricated the energy he gave on stage an energy hat was wild and relentless.
The lineup for this show was phenomenal! Reserved and focused, Lil Dream had a set that accentuated the artist he is his songs were smooth almost nonchalant with tightly written rhymes delivered with power and intent. Shogun Gunna is fairly new with only one publicly listed track on his SoundCloud page but he dropped back to back tracks that were nothing but heat. Initially reserved he opened up more and more with each song gradually winning over the crowd with each new verse. His energy was infectious all his songs had a slick bounce, lethal flows, high energy adlibs and some stellar production from Supa Statiq. A talented musician, Statiq brought a new dynamic to the overall sound playing guitar throughoutbthe night an intriguing element you won’t usually find at a Hip-Hop show.
LULBIGBROTHER should teach a class on how to perform because he’s a master at it! He demanded the attention of the ENTIRE audience leaving the stage to perform in the middle of the divided crowd, yelling “WAKE UP” he went from the front to the back making sure everyone was alert and listening. Performing a medley of new and old tracks that included “5-Oz“, ” Money Right“, “Break It Up“, ” Perro Perro” and some unreleased material. The energy in the room shot to a whole new level when he performed the Hades produced track “Perro Perro” they went nuts head banging and singing along to the rampaging chorus. It was a feeling that was unmatched…until El Cousteau took the stage.
To really understand just how CRAZY El Cousteau’s performances are you have to see him live! He has an amazing aura of confidence that’s unbreakable, his flow is punch, his voice is loud and his lyrics are raunchy and raw. Stomping into the stage he raged out on the microphone giving a heartfelt and sweat inducing performance. The front row was singing along as Cousteau performed some his rowdiest records.Killing it Jay Cousteau closed off the night. Playing a Cousteau classic he had the crowd chanting the chorus to “FLIP“. Jay gave the auduinve the cool down they needed. His energy was chill, balanced and even instead of bold and brash. With swagger and finesse finesse, Jay tackled his set like an experienced showman making sure his music was felt and understood. With Trap jams and cold bangers he put together a captivating set.
“What A Night” was an awesome live experience that showcased young Hip-Hop artists coming out of the DMV.
