16-year-old arrested and charged for 4 murders, 6 shootings since April

A 16-year-old boy is now facing charges after being accused of four murders and six shootings dating back to April of this year in D.C.

Michael Mason was arrested on June 17 and charged as an adult on four counts of first-degree murder while armed, four counts of assault with intent to kill while armed, assault with intent to murder while armed, and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to police.

Down below is a summary of the incidents Mason is charged in.

APRIL

At 10:37 p.m. on April 7, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3900 blocks of Alabama Avenue in Southeast Washington. Police found 21-year-old Brea Moon suffering from a gunshot wound inside of a vehicle. Investigators say Moon was transported to an area hospital where she died.

According to police, 21-year-old Daquan Jones was also charged along with Mason in the April 7 shooting. Mason has been charged with one count of first-degree murder while armed (premeditated).

Less than two hours after the first shooting, police were on the scene of another shooting that occurred at approximately 12:11 a.m. on April 8. Officers found a juvenile male suffering from gunshot wounds in the 300 block of Anacostia Road in Southeast Washington. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Three weeks later, police responded to the report of a shooting at 11:11 a.m. on April 28 in the 1800 block of 24th Street in Northeast Washington. Investigators say Mason discharged a gun at an unidentified person.

MAY

Police say at 7:11 p.m. on May 9, officers responded to the report of gunshots in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast Washington. Investigators searched the area and found multiple shell casings and damage to property. According to authorities, Mason discharged a gun at individuals various times.

Two weeks later, at 1:39 p.m. on May 19, police say two men and a woman were shot in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast. The two men died at the scene of the shooting, and the woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Police identified the male victims as 20-year-old Jaszel Henderson and 31-year-old Terrance Griffin.

A day later, authorities say a shooting occurred at 5:09 p.m. on May 20 in the 300 blocks of Anacostia Road in Southeast Washington. Officers at the scene found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

According to police, another shooting was reported at 4:50 p.m. on May 22 in the 3800 blocks of East Capitol Street in Northeast Washington. Officers found 18-year-old Antwuan Roach suffering from gunshot wounds. Roach died at the scene.

Authorities say two days later, at approximately 1:19 a.m. on May 24, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the 4400 blocks of Falls Terrace in Southeast Washington. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Less than 30 minutes later, at 1:48 a.m. on May 24, police responded to a second shooting and located two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 5100 block of Fitch Street in Southeast Washington. Investigators say both men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
