CBD infused skin-care products have become one of the top beauty trends of 2019. The ingredient causing so much hype is seen in several beauty products spanning across the globe from North America, Europe, and beyond.

According to the Hemp Business Journal, sales of CBD products exceeded $390 million in 2018 alone. And by 2022, the CBD market is projected to reach $22 billion in large part thanks to the Farm Bill which legalized hemp in the United States in 2018.

CBD, short for the scientific name cannabidiol, is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids. CBD oil is extracted directly from the cannabis plant and contains zero traces of the chemical THC, which causes the sensation of getting “high”, commonly associated with marijuana.

Although CBD products are being marketed, many have not been tested to ensure safety and efficacy by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Due to this, rulings on how to regulate CBD products are still underway. These facts left many confused about the future of this billion-dollar industry after the first public hearing held on May 31.
