Music Collective BumiCult Put On An Excellent Live Show

August 2nd at the MilkBoy ArtHouse in College Park, Maryland, music collective BumiCult delivered a phenomenal show with performances by artists Jett Bailey, Manny Parks, Jahn Rome, and Frye Nation . Jett Bailey’s first headlining show, it was a wonderful night of live hip-jop.

It was an eventful concert with incredible music, warm vibes and a variety of sounds. The concert was well structured and organized flowing seamlessly with few unnecessary breaks. It was well planned and delivered. The venue was small and intimate, the acoustics in the building traveled well, balanced yet loud the music sounded dynamic and clear. There was a small stage at the front slightly raised off the ground just big enough for a DJ, turntable and small collective of three or four on stage performers. In the back were vendors selling artist merch and it also housed a bar on the right side of the room and seating area in the back. Overall the venue had a cozy vibe and small interior perfect for a intimate performance.

Opening up a show isn’t easy especially when the audience in attendance isn’t already invested in your music but when Frye Nation took to the stage he made sure his prescence was felt as he had a eye catching, energy filled performance, raging with his shirt off he delivered a flurry of hard-hitting tracks. Balancing emotionally heavy songs with soulful vocals, rapper Jahn Rome put on a poetic performance as he delivered jovial renditions of So many words, Raindrops, and Rush it wasn’t long before he had the crowd singing along. Jett Bailey! Jett Bailey gave the audience an inspiring performance backed by a live band, rapping, singing, on stage skits, jumping to the venue floor he did everything short of crowd surfing. His set was preceded by a projector video that chronicled his journey, the growth of BumiCult and headlining his first show. Glowing under the stage light, Jett had a remarkably good performance with funky rhythms, and engaging songs, with a spirit of love and happiness he brought the event to a satisfying close.

One of the best parts about the show was the variety. Jahn offered quality lyricism  rich vocals, passionate call and response choruses and an amazing flow with a beautiful sound, think Kendrick Lamar meets Webster X meets Russ. The most wild, energy packed performer of the night, Frye Nation rapped with enthusiasm as he delivered his songs with a powerful, attention grabbing voice. Manny Parks sung with an airy falsetto think Maxwell with an edge while Jett had a jazzy. relaxing sound that captures the easygoing, carefreen vibe of the 1990s similar toThe Pharcyde or De La Soul with a modern twist. This was one of the best shows I’ve gone to in a while. The performances, the artists, the sound and the venue were great. It was a night that I won’t soon forget.
