Family “Insulted” By 10-Year Sentence For Man’s Murder In Beltsville
A Maryland family is demanding answers after feeling that justice was denied in the case of their loved one. Antoine Dorsey was murdered in July 2022, and last week, a judge sentenced his convicted killer to just 10 years in prison—a decision his family calls an insult.
“It’s gut-wrenching and heartbreaking because we feel helpless, honestly,” said Jarel Dorsey, Antoine’s brother.
Antoine was shot and killed on a wooded road in Beltsville, Maryland. In the months that followed, Anderson Blanco-Diaz and another teenager were arrested and charged with his murder.
“Antoine was a loving, caring, compassionate, energetic, youthful, and ambitious young man. He did not deserve to be murdered,” Jarel Dorsey added.
His siblings were stunned by the lenient sentence and are now seeking clarity on the court’s decision. Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy expressed her disappointment with the sentencing. She stated that an assistant state’s attorney had advocated for a life sentence, considering the severity of the crime and other pending cases against the suspect.
The Dorsey family continues to seek justice for Antoine, hoping for answers that could shed light on the judicial process that led to such a short sentence for his killer.
