23-Year-Old Driver Killed in High-Speed Crash Along Route 301 in Prince George’s County
A 23-year-old man was killed early Wednesday morning after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole along Route 301 in Prince George’s County, according to Maryland State Police. Troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 12:09 a.m. on July 1.
A preliminary investigation found that Honre Dexter McCade Jr., 23, was driving a 2015 Audi northbound on Route 301 at what investigators described as a high rate of speed. For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway before crashing into a utility pole.
McCade was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No additional information has been released at this time.
Officials have not indicated whether impairment, roadway conditions, or any other contributing factors played a role in the crash.
